HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR A CLASS?
Click BOOK CLASSES and create a MindBodyOnline username and password. Use it to schedule, purchase classes and track your visit history. Our MindBody schedule is the most accurate place to see class times.
I'VE BOOKED MY FIRST CLASS, NOW WHAT?
See YOUR FIRST CLASS. You should arrive 10 minutes early for your first class in the CARDIO+STRENGTH or Resistance room so that you can be properly introduced to the equipment. If you do not arrive with enough time to be introduced to the machines you may not be allow to participate in class, for your safety and enjoyment of class.
I'M TOTALLY OUT OF SHAPE, WILL I BE ABLE TO DO THE CLASS?
Yes! Our classes are definitely challenging, but there are modifications to decrease the intensity of almost every exercise. Every class is all levels. Your instructor will show you how to modify during class as needed. Also, we think no other activity will help you get into shape faster or with less chance of injury.
I'M REALLY FIT, IS THis WORKOUT FOR ME?
YES. Our clients run ultra-marathons, cycle hundreds of miles per week, rock climb at world-class levels, dance professionally, and do just about every other athletic pursuit under the sun. In our resistance classes, you'll work your slow-twitch muscles to failure and be left shaking and utterly spent at the end of class. In our CARDIO+STRENGTH classes, you'll be able to push yourself as hard or harder than you've ever done in your life. If you apply yourself fully, this can be one of the most challenging workouts you will ever do.
SHOULD I ATTEND A PRIVATE SESSION OR CLASS FIRST?
We recommend you jump right into our CARDIO+STRENGTH classes. They cater to all levels.
For our RESISTANCE classes, if you are out of shape, uncertain of your abilities, or have never been on a Reformer before, it's highly recommended that you take a Resistance Form class first. These classes provide a slower-paced, more systematic overview of the method. Resistance Form is also the same each time so after 2-3 times in class, you will have the confidence to move on.
Your instructor will give you a tour of the machine before class starts and will also discuss any potential physical limitations you might have. Modifications are possible for almost every exercise. Our classes have no more than ten people, so you'll receive a lot of personal attention during your workout.
If you have a severe medical condition, chronic back pain, or painful joints, we recommend that you take a private session first so that we can assess your abilities and fitness level. Many of our clients testify that our classes have helped with their lower back and joint pain tremendously. Please contact us at boulder@mecha.com and we'll work with you to figure out the best plan.
ARE THE RESISTANCE CLASSES PILATES?
There are similarities between our RESISTANCE classes and Pilates, but the philosophy, machines, and techniques are quite different. Our workout provides 50 minutes of sustained intensity that traditional Pilates just can't match. But like Pilates, our workout is therapeutic and great for injury prevention.
CAN I ATTEND CLASS IF I'M PREGNANT?
We do not advise starting our resistance classes if you are pregnant. However, clients who have been regularly attending classes may continue working out with us until about four months into the pregnancy. Our resistance workouts compress the abdomen and work the core in ways that produce great results but might not be optimal for pregnant women. Please contact us and/or your care provider if you have any questions.
Postpartum women should have a strong core foundation before restarting resistance classes. Once you're ready to return to class, there is no better workout to help your core and pelvis return to your pre-pregnancy state!
Our CARDIO+STRENGTH classes push you to your limit, which is not recommended for pregnant women. However, if you're willing to shift your intensity down a bit, you can attend our CARDIO+STRENGTH classes well into your third trimester.
Please read our Prenatal and Postpartum Guidelines before attending a class while pregnant or in your first year postpartum.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE CLASS?
For the best results, you should come to our Resistance classes at least twice per week but no more than 3-4 times per week. We work your muscles to failure, so you need at least a day of rest after each class. People who have been coming for years still get sore every time.
We recommend taking our CARDIO+STRENGTH classes no more than 4 times per week. It's critical to give your body some recovery time.
Some of our clients do come almost every day, but that's not something we recommend. Just listen to your body and you'll be fine!
CAN KIDS ATTEND CLASS?
Children 16 and over are welcome. We ask that anyone under age 16 take private session prior to attending a group class. Young kids are often not tall enough to use our machines and require a lot of extra attention from the instructor.
Mecha does not offer childcare. We do not have the space or staff to supervise children during classes. Children who are brought to Mecha while their parents are in class are left unsupervised as our hosts have responsibilities that take them away from the front desk while classes are in session. For the safety of your children we ask that you leave your children at home while taking classes.
Does mecha offer child care?
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
What if I have an emergency?
You can change or cancel your class up to 8 hours before the class starts. If you cancel within 8 hours of class or don't show up you will forfeit the class and be charged a $5 no-show fee if you don’t cancel out of your spot. Unlimited members receive one free late cancel every rolling 30 days. For example if you get a late cancel or no show for free, now you have 30 days to not make an error, if you do you are charged. If you don’t the 30 day rolling period restarts. It is not based on your bill date or done monthly. Beyond that, unlimited members pay $20 per late cancel and $25 for a no-show. No exceptions. Fees apply to any and all classes that you book and do not attend. For example, you may not book two classes in a day, attend one, and avoid the fee for the class you did not attend.
We are a small class concept so we can offer personalized care in our classes. If you have booked a class we are counting on you to show up. We pay our staff commission for your reservation and you may have prevented another member from taking that class. For these reasons we can NOT accept exceptions on no shows and late cancels. Almost all late cancels are emergencies and of course we feel terribly for your emergency (sick child, flat tire, illness, pet issue, etc.). Please don’t ask us to bear the financial burden of the emergency. We feel badly about saying “no” but we’d be out of business if we made exceptions. Before this policy we’d receive requests for 2-3 per class. All of them are emergencies. That’s 25% of our spots for some classes. We are sure your emergency is valid and unique but we simply can’t bear the burden as a business. Thank you for your understanding.
WHAT IF I'm Late?
We believe strongly in the class experience that we provide and the experience begins the moment class begins. We do not guarantee late entry. We give spots away to waitlisted clients after 5 minutes into class. If you are waitlisted, arrive at your own risk. You may be asked to wait in the lobby for 5 minutes or leave your machine if the reserved clients arrives within 5 minutes. If you are reserved and arrive late, you might not be allowed entry. We often lock doors when classes begin to keep staff safe. In summary: Arrive on time to guarantee your spot. Reserve classes in advance to guarantee your spot.
Why is late entry discouraged?
Risk of injury: In the CARDIO+STRENGTH room warming up the muscles is necessary for your safety. Jumping into a high intensity group class without properly warming up can cause injury.
Forces the instructor to modify the class plan: Instructors create groups and modify class plans based on the number of clients in class during the warm-up.
Takes time away from the rest of class: Missing the introduction to blocks/circuit means that the instructor needs to take their attention away from the class to support and explain the machines and exercises to people who come in late.
Imbalance in the workout: Missing even 5 minutes of a Resistance class would cause a notable imbalance in the full-body workout.
IS THERE A WAIT LIST FOR FULL CLASSES?
Yes. If a class says "0 Open," click "Sign Up" and then choose the wait list option. This will put you in line if someone cancels. Please note that the Waitlist locks 8 hours before class begins and no longer functions as a waitlist. Once in the 8-hour window before class, no one from the waitlist will be automatically added to class and the class becomes available on a first come first serve basis. It’s best to remove yourself from the waitlist after 8 hours to see all the open availability on the app again.
What Happens once I add myself to the WAIT LIST?
Treat the waitlist as a booking and check back to see if you got in. If you do not want to reserve the class, please remove yourself from the waitlist or you may get added to a class you do not want to attend and have associated late cancel or no show fees.
If a spot opens up (before the 8 hour window), you will automatically be added to the class, and you will be notified of this via email as long as you elected to receive emails in your settings (Please set this up on your account, or email us). Once this happens, normal cancellation and no-show policies will apply. If you are on the waitlist and you decide you no longer want to attend the class, you should remove yourself from the waitlist to avoid late cancel fees in the case that you are added to the class. No one from the waitlist will be added to a class within the 8-hours before a class. It is best to remove yourself at that point so you can see what class availability is open.
DO YOU HAVE SHOWERS?
Yes, we have one shower. After some classes, the shower is in high demand, so plan accordingly.
If you know you tend to get uncomfortable driving in snow or poor weather, please cancel out of the class to avoid a fee. If you are on the roster for class we are preparing for your arrival and so late cancel and no show fees apply.
what if it snows?
Our Client Services team works remotely so it’s tricky to coordinate lost and found with our studio team. We are open 10 minutes before and after each class. It’s best if you can return soon to pick up your left item. We can not be responsible for personal items. Thank you for understanding.
