our class offerings
Mecha offers two strength training class options: STRENGTH and BARBELL CLUB. Both of these programs focus on precise form, controlled movements and heavier weights. You will build a solid foundation in classic lifting focusing on squats, lunges, hinge, push, pull and core stability work. Classes are not fast paced where you are fighting to win against a clock but rather guided by your own abilities to move more weight over time more efficiently. There is no competition in our weight room, it’s about extending your health span and ability to do the activities you love. See our videos at the bottom of the page for an idea of what a class is like.
STRENGTH
Classes are 50 minutes to 1 hour to accommodate the additional attention to form needed and then ample time to get in a full strength training session. Classes begin with an extended warm-up to mobilize the joints and address any areas of instability or tightness to prepare the body. You will move through three to four stations with two strength moves per station working to accumulate 3-5 sets. Strength moves are programmed across a month-long cycle so you can gain greater confidence and understanding of the moves and progress to heavier weights or more repetitions as you gain better awareness. Don’t worry if you come to class mid-cycle. Each class is created to introduce the movements to new clients while allowing more advanced clients to progress. STRENGTH classes are included in any regular MECHA membership or class pack purchase.
Barbell CLUB
This is our more elite technical strength training class. This is where you will learn how to go heavy. Fewer moves are programmed and the emphasis is on precise form and heavier 2-5 rep ranges. Due to the heavier weights involved and the greater precision on form, classes are limited to 12 participants and sold differently. This class is appropriate for all levels and attracts beginner and experienced lifters alike. We regularly see PRs (personal records) in this class even from advanced lifters due to the expert programming and method we use. Offered only in Boulder.
